Frequently Asked Questions
How is SEO ROI calculated?
ROI = (extra gross profit − monthly SEO cost) ÷ monthly SEO cost × 100. Extra gross profit is the additional revenue multiplied by your gross margin. This is an incremental monthly model, not total business profit.
What should I enter for a service business?
Choose Lead generation. Enter your visitor-to-lead rate, lead-to-customer rate and average first-sale revenue per customer. Use the same currency and monthly basis throughout; do not mix lifetime revenue with one month’s costs.
Does this predict traffic or guarantee a return?
No. Traffic growth is your assumption. Conversion rates, order values and margins are held constant. SEO can take time; this models a month at the assumed traffic level, not the ramp-up period or a payback date.
What counts as SEO cost?
Include your monthly agency or freelance fees, internal time, content production and tools. Use gross margin after the direct costs of delivering the sale; include SEO costs only once, in the SEO cost field.
What does break-even traffic mean?
It is the extra monthly visits needed for gross profit to cover the entered SEO cost, at your assumed conversion rate and margin. With zero cost the ROI percentage is undefined; with no profit per visit, a positive SEO cost cannot be recovered in this model.
